Train for Extreme Technical Missions

GUE Technical Diver 3 is an advanced course for divers preparing for the highest end of GUE technical project and exploration diving. The official GUE page describes training around deep gas parameters, dives deeper than 300 feet or 90 meters, decompression logistics, support teams, emergency management, DPV considerations, and multiple gas switches. This course is about managing complex missions, not simply adding more depth.

The prerequisites reflect that seriousness. GUE requires applicants to be fit, insured for diving emergencies, non-smoking, medically cleared when required, at least 18, and qualified on the CCR or PSCR configuration used in the course. Students also need GUE DPV Level 1 or DPV Cave, at least 50 non-training Tech 2 or CCR-T2 level dives after the relevant certification, 500 non-training dives after autonomous scuba certification, and substantial experience on the rebreather configuration used for training.

Course content includes hypoxic protocols, gas management for very deep dives, thermal considerations, HPNS, deepwater carbon dioxide risks, accelerated and omitted decompression strategies, decompression stations, support-team protocols, gas switching, equipment failures, unconscious-diver recovery, drop tank procedures, and safety diver coordination. GUE describes the course as normally four days, excluding online academics, with at least four dives and 30 hours of instruction. In High Springs, Florida, this is appropriate only for highly experienced technical divers planning serious expedition-level work.
