GUE Technical Diver 2

Advance Deep Trimix Capability

GUE Technical Diver 2 is for divers who have already built a Tech 1 foundation and want to extend their ability into deeper, more complex technical dives. GUE describes the course as training for advanced underwater missions beyond 50 meters or 170 feet, where stronger judgment, resilience, gas management, and decompression control are required. It is aimed at divers who want to support exploration, project diving, and demanding deep missions with a higher level of proficiency.

This course is not an entry point into technical diving. GUE lists prerequisites including minimum age 18, fitness to dive, swimming ability, non-smoking status, medical clearance when needed, completion of GUE Tech 1, and at least 25 logged Tech 1 or CCR-T1 level dives after certification. Drysuit experience requirements apply if the course is conducted in a drysuit. That experience base matters because students are managing more cylinders, more decompression exposure, and greater depth-related stress.

Training outcomes include the use of multiple stages, trimix with higher helium content, hypoxic gas-mixture protocols, gas and oxygen management, extended decompression, accelerated and omitted decompression strategies, dive planning, and multiple-cylinder management. GUE describes Tech 2 as normally six days, with at least seven dives including three trimix experience dives and 48 hours of instruction. In High Springs, Florida, it is a demanding progression for committed technical divers preparing for deeper missions.
