Create Underwater 3D Models

GUE Photogrammetry Diver is a project-focused course for divers who want to turn careful underwater imaging into useful digital models. GUE describes the course as an introduction to the skills and procedures used in underwater photogrammetry, where still images or video are captured methodically and processed into 3D models. It is especially valuable when a dive site, artifact, reef section, or project area needs more than casual photos to tell its story accurately.

The course is aimed at divers who want to contribute to underwater documentation projects and already have basic underwater photography skills and suitable photo or video equipment. GUE lists prerequisites that include being at least 16, fit for diving, able to swim, non-smoking, and certified through GUE Open Water Diver, GUE Performance Diver, or GUE Basic Fundamentals. The official page also requires 75 logged dives beyond autonomous entry-level certification, with drysuit experience requirements when applicable.

Training covers the basics of photogrammetry, still and video capture, equipment and lighting setup, underwater teamwork, organization, processing workflow, and creating final 3D models for publication. GUE describes the course as normally four days, with at least three dives and 32 hours of instruction. At Extreme Exposure in High Springs, Florida, it gives detail-oriented divers a practical way to support science, conservation, archaeology, and exploration projects.
