Move into Deeper Recreational Diving

GUE Master Diver is the top end of GUE?s recreational pathway, identified by GUE as Recreational Diver Level 3. It is built for divers who are ready to move beyond no-decompression recreational limits and learn a controlled, disciplined approach to deeper dives. The course introduces limited decompression, double tanks, decompression cylinders, and helium-based breathing mixtures for deeper recreational diving to 130 feet or 40 meters, while keeping the focus on team procedures and precise execution.

This is not an early continuing-education class. GUE states that applicants must be at least 18 and have completed GUE Advanced Open Water Diver or GUE Fundamentals, along with substantial non-training dive experience. The official prerequisites include 75 non-training dives, recent experience after GUE AOW or Fundamentals, and doubles experience or a Doubles Primer pathway. That makes the course best suited to committed divers who already have stable buoyancy, trim, propulsion, gas awareness, and team habits.

The course is normally conducted over five days with eight dives and at least 40 hours of classroom, land-drill, and in-water work. At Extreme Exposure in High Springs, Florida, Master Diver is a meaningful bridge for divers who want more capability in deeper recreational environments and may later consider technical training, gas blending, DPV use, or more demanding project diving.
