Document Project Dives Well

GUE Documentation Diver is for divers who want to do more than visit a site; it teaches them how to contribute useful records from underwater projects. GUE describes the course as an introduction to documentation techniques, project organization, and logistics for project-based diving. The focus includes gathering data, shooting video or still images, supporting survey work, and helping a team turn a dive into information that can be shared, studied, or used for conservation and public awareness.

The course suits divers who are interested in documentation, mapping, survey, photography, videography, or organized project diving. GUE lists prerequisites that include being at least 16, fit for diving, able to swim, non-smoking, and certified through GUE Open Water Diver, GUE Performance Diver, or GUE Basic Fundamentals. The official page also requires a substantial experience base, including 75 logged dives beyond entry-level autonomous certification, with drysuit experience requirements when applicable.

Training covers more than camera handling. Students work on documentation-specific team skills, communication, objectives and work plans, task management, report creation, mapping, survey, and preparing information for wider use. GUE describes the course as normally four days, with at least four dives and 32 hours of instruction. At Extreme Exposure in High Springs, Florida, it is a strong fit for divers who want their skills to support real underwater projects.
