GUE Cave Diver 2

Extend Cave Diving Capability

GUE Cave Diver 2 is the natural progression for active Cave 1 divers who want to expand their range and competence in more complex cave environments. GUE describes Cave 2 as the logical next step once divers have gained comfort and experience after Level 1. The course builds on an existing cave foundation and introduces more demanding navigation, longer penetrations, added task loading, and more advanced team procedures.

The class is intended for divers who already have strong cave awareness and solid fundamental skills. GUE lists prerequisites including minimum age 18, fitness to dive, swimming ability, non-smoking status, medical clearance when needed, completion of GUE Cave 1, and at least 25 logged Cave 1 level dives after certification. Drysuit experience requirements apply when the course is conducted in a drysuit.

Training outcomes include increased environmental awareness, extended penetration dives, advanced navigation, use of jump spools, enhanced team awareness, advanced problem resolution, stress management, and use of a stage and/or decompression cylinder. GUE describes the course as normally six days, requiring at least 10 Cave 2 dives in at least three different caves and 48 hours of instruction. At Extreme Exposure in High Springs, Florida, Cave 2 helps experienced cave divers move from basic overhead competence into more complex cave planning and execution.
