GUE Advanced Oxygen First Aid & Neuro is a GUE-DAN course for people who already have oxygen provider training and want a stronger emergency-care skill set for diving incidents. GUE offers it in partnership with Divers Alert Network Europe, combining Advanced Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries with On-Site Neurological Assessment for Divers. The purpose is practical interim care while waiting for emergency medical services or other professional support.

The course is available to divers and non-divers who hold a current DAN Oxygen Provider or GUE-DAN BLS-D & Oxygen First Aid certification, or an equivalent credential. GUE also lists physical and mental fitness and non-smoking status as prerequisites. It is a logical next step for dive teammates, instructors, surface support, and technical or cave teams who may be expected to recognize and manage diving emergencies calmly.

Training adds advanced oxygen delivery and assessment skills to basic life support and CPR knowledge. The oxygen portion teaches use of the manual triggered ventilator, also called a resuscitation valve, and may include bag valve mask use depending on local laws and regulations. The neurological assessment portion reviews warning signs of dive emergencies, when an on-site neurological assessment is appropriate, and how to conduct it. The course is normally one day with classroom and hands-on training. In High Springs, Florida, it is a useful safety upgrade for serious dive teams.
