Course Overview
TDI Trimix teaches experienced technical divers to reduce narcosis on deeper dives by adding helium to the breathing gas. TDI describes the course as training divers to plan and execute dives using as little as 18 percent oxygen, with helium appropriate for the planned depth, to a maximum depth of 60 metres/200 feet. The emphasis is on custom gas planning, decompression control, and disciplined execution under technical conditions and multiple-cylinder setups.
This course is for certified TDI Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures divers, or equivalents, who want to extend depth range and advance their technical education. TDI lists minimum age 18 and proof of 100 logged dives as prerequisites. Students should arrive with solid decompression habits, comfortable stage cylinder handling, and a serious respect for oxygen, helium, nitrogen, and equivalent narcotic depth planning.
Training covers advanced decompression planning, gas absorption and elimination, CNS and OTU limits, isobaric counter diffusion, volume requirements, gas switching, team awareness, SMB or lift bag deployment, and emergency procedures.
