Course Overview
TDI Air Diluent Deco CCR is the next step for open-circuit technical divers crossing into CCR decompression diving or for Air Diluent CCR divers progressing beyond no-decompression limits. The official TDI page states that the course teaches the skills needed to conduct decompression CCR dives to a maximum depth of 40 metres/130 feet using air diluent. It brings together CCR life-support management and staged decompression planning in one demanding progression.
The course is suited to open-circuit technical divers or entry-level CCR divers who want to use CCR technology to extend bottom time and depth limits. TDI lists two pathways: Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures or equivalent with 50 logged dives, or TDI Air Diluent CCR or equivalent with 30 hours on the CCR unit and six months CCR experience. Sidemount CCR students need appropriate sidemount certification and experience.
Training covers CCR system mechanics, gas physiology, scrubber packing, electronic or manual systems, dive tables, computers, planning, predive checklists, bailout, loop volume, setpoint monitoring, SMB or lift bag use, decompression procedures, and simulated emergencies.
