Course Overview
PADI Tec Trimix Diver is advanced open-circuit technical training for divers who want to move beyond normoxic trimix and plan very deep dives with a deliberate, conservative mindset. PADI describes training dives as reaching as deep as 90 metres/300 feet, so the course focuses on far more than depth. Students work with complex gas selection, decompression planning, oxygen exposure, helium-based mixtures, emergency procedures, and the judgment needed when direct ascent is not an option.
This is not an entry into technical diving. PADI lists Tec 50 or Tec Trimix 65, at least 150 logged dives, age requirements, and a physician-signed medical statement among the enrollment qualifications. A diver starting this course should already be confident in technical equipment, stage handling, gas switches, team protocols, and precise buoyancy under task loading. Equivalent technical certifications may be considered by the instructor where appropriate.
The training path usually includes demanding academics, detailed dive planning, simulated failures, and progressively complex dives.
