PADI Tec Sidemount Diver

Course Overview

PADI Tec Sidemount Diver teaches certified divers how to use sidemount configuration for technical diving, where carrying more than one cylinder is common. The course is less about chasing depth and more about building a clean, repeatable equipment system. Students learn how cylinder position, hose routing, gas access, balance, trim, and team procedures affect comfort and control when the dive plan becomes more complex.

PADI lists Advanced Open Water Diver, a minimum age of 18, and at least 30 logged dives as enrollment qualifications, with Enriched Air Diver recommended. It is a good fit for divers who are considering TecRec training, already dive recreational sidemount, or want a more flexible way to manage multiple cylinders. Instructors may integrate it with Tec 40, Tec 45, or Tec 50 when appropriate.

Training typically includes configuration work, land or confined-water setup, and dives that refine gas management and sidemount-specific skills.
