Course Overview

PADI Tec CCR Qualifier is for certified Tec 40 CCR, Tec 60 CCR, or Tec 100 CCR divers who need to qualify on a different Type T CCR unit. PADI technical CCR ratings are tied to the specific rebreather used, so changing units requires focused training rather than assuming one system transfers automatically. The qualifier concentrates on unit assembly, predive checks, disassembly, control differences, and the unique procedures that separate one CCR from another.

The program is appropriate only for divers who already hold a PADI Tec CCR rating at the relevant level and are moving to another Type T CCR under instructor supervision. It is not a shortcut into technical rebreather diving. The diver should already understand technical CCR planning, bailout concepts, decompression obligations, and team procedures before adding the workload of a new machine.

PADI notes that the qualifier includes one confined water dive and two open water dives to confirm comfort with the new CCR. In High Springs, Florida, that structure is valuable for technical divers who may train on or travel with multiple platforms. Completion results in a new PADI certification card identifying the new Type T CCR at the diver's completed level.
