Deep Diver Training

PADI Deep Diver teaches certified divers how to plan and conduct deeper recreational dives with better awareness and control. The official PADI page describes the course as learning to manage gas supply, recognize and deal with narcosis, consider safety stops, and use specialized deep-diving equipment. The course stays in the recreational training lane while helping divers treat depth as a planning factor, not a casual number on a computer.

This specialty is for PADI Adventure Divers or higher who meet the age requirement and are ready for deeper guided training. PADI lists a minimum age of 15. Students should already be comfortable with buoyancy, descent and ascent control, buddy procedures, and basic dive planning. The course is a strong fit for divers preparing for advanced specialties, wreck objectives, or technical training later, but it does not replace decompression training.

Training usually includes knowledge development and four deep dives under instructor supervision. In High Springs, Florida, Deep Diver can help divers make better decisions around deeper spring basins and future technical pathways. The expected outcome is a diver who can plan deeper recreational dives more conservatively, monitor gas and narcosis, manage equipment choices, and understand when a dive is beyond recreational limits.
