Trimix I Diver Training
NAUI Trimix I Diver is a technical course for certified technical decompression divers who want to use helium-based trimix breathing mixtures more safely. The official NAUI page states that the course prepares divers for dives to a maximum depth of 60 meters or 200 feet that require staged decompression, using EANx mixtures and/or oxygen during decompression. The course adds helium planning, deeper decompression strategy, gas logistics, and narcosis control to the diver?s technical toolkit.
This course is intended for divers who already have real decompression experience. NAUI lists Technical Decompression Diver or equivalent as the prerequisite, requires proof of at least 100 logged dives with at least 20 decompression dives, and sets the minimum age at 18 by the water phase. A suitable student should already be disciplined with decompression procedures, gas switches, team communication, technical equipment, and written dive plans before adding trimix complexity.
Training normally includes academic mixed-gas theory, dive planning, equipment preparation, staged-decompression procedures, and open-water trimix dives.
