Rescue Scuba Diver Training
NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver is a continuing education course that trains divers to manage risks and respond to limited in-water problems and diving emergencies. The official NAUI page says the course includes assists, transports, surface rescues, and rescues from depth involving both boat- and shore-based skin and scuba divers. It also meets the rescue prerequisite for several NAUI leadership pathways, including Skin Diving Instructor, Assistant Instructor, Divemaster, and Instructor.
This course is for certified divers who want to become more aware, useful, and organized when a dive does not go to plan. NAUI lists Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent as the certification prerequisite, with a minimum age of 15 by the water phase and junior certification allowed for ages 10 to 14. If BLS CPR and First Aid and Emergency Oxygen are not included in the course, current equivalent certifications are required unless prohibited by law.
Training normally combines academics, scenario practice, rescue techniques, and open-water or confined-water work shaped by the instructor.
