Technical Nitrox Training
IANTD Technical Nitrox Diver training is written here from IANTD?s current Technical Diver page, because the current public catalog presents that individual program as the technical pathway covering custom blend breathing gases, EANx limits, and the use of EANx and oxygen for decompression. For a student, the important point is learning to plan and execute technical dives with richer gases, formal decompression procedures, and a much tighter margin for gas, ascent, and team discipline.
This course is for divers who already have meaningful technical preparation. IANTD lists Advanced EANx Diver or equivalent as a prerequisite for Technical Diver, plus a minimum age requirement and substantial logged dive experience, including dives deeper than normal recreational limits. A suitable student should already be steady in doubles or an appropriate technical configuration, comfortable with decompression thinking, and able to follow precise procedures without losing awareness of the team or environment.
Training normally includes academic sessions, confined-water work, and open-water dives. In High Springs, Florida, the value of this level is the disciplined coaching: analyzing gases, respecting oxygen exposure, planning decompression, managing failures, and keeping ascents controlled. It is a demanding step for divers who want their nitrox knowledge to become part of a complete technical diving system rather than a simple recreational specialty.
