IANTD Expedition Trimix Diver training is the agency?s high-level open-circuit trimix pathway for divers already active in deep technical diving. The official IANTD page describes the program as training divers to conduct exploration dives that require extended decompression profiles and helium-based gas mixtures. This is not an ordinary progression course; it is for divers whose objectives, experience, and judgment already place them in demanding deep-diving environments where planning errors can carry serious consequences.
IANTD lists Trimix Diver or equivalent as the prerequisite, along with a higher minimum age and very substantial logged dive experience, including a large number of trimix dives. A suitable student should already be disciplined with deep mixed-gas planning, decompression, gas switches, stage management, team protocols, and emergency procedures.
