Extend Advanced CCR Diving

GUE CCR Technical Diver 2 is advanced closed-circuit rebreather training for divers who already hold CCR Technical Diver 1 and want to move into deeper, longer, and more demanding technical dives. GUE describes the course as gradually building and solidifying the skills and knowledge needed for deeper technical CCR diving and longer decompression times. It is a progression in both capacity and discipline, with a stronger focus on physical fitness, mental readiness, and rebreather management.

The course is intended for graduates of GUE Closed-Circuit Rebreather Technical Diver Level 1 who want a deeper understanding of advanced CCR diving in more demanding environments. GUE lists prerequisites including minimum age 18, fitness to dive, swimming ability, non-smoking status, medical clearance when needed, CCR-T1 certification, and at least 50 non-training CCR-T1 dives after certification. At least 25 of those dives must be at 130 feet or 40 meters, and students must own a GUE-approved closed-circuit rebreather.

Training outcomes include solid personal and team skills, robust knowledge of CCR function, underwater operation and failures, deep bailout to open circuit, ascent protocols with gas switches and rotations, loss of decompression gas management, and advanced mission planning. GUE also references gas management, absorbent canister endurance, oxygen toxicity, and decompression strategies. The course is normally six days with seven dive sessions, 48 hours of instruction, and at least 10 hours of dive time.
